BALTIMORE, MD – Today, Baltimore for a New Harborplace launched the campaign to urge Baltimore City voters to vote “Yes” on Question F on General Election ballots in November. The campaign is powered by a diverse coalition of community and civic leaders, grassroots organizations, and elected officials.
If approved by voters, Question F will allow for the long-awaited revitalization of Harborplace and the Inner Harbor in the heart of Baltimore. This project will reconnect all Baltimoreans to their waterfront and provide a safe, welcoming destination for residents and visitors from across the city, state, and country.
The campaign will raise awareness of the generational opportunity to transform Harborplace and Baltimore’s Inner Harbor; revitalize and reinvigorate the public space; and create a vibrant, diverse neighborhood with food markets, diverse restaurants, local shops, better public transit, improved waterfront access, expanded public spaces, and more walkable streets.
“With voters’ support, Harborplace can again be a place for all of Baltimore,” said campaign Chairman Jon Laria. “Every Baltimorean should be excited to vote ‘YES’ on Question F to help accelerate Baltimore’s revitalization through this once-in-a-generation opportunity.”
Local and state elected officials, including Governor Wes Moore and Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott support the Harboplace project.
The entire Harborplace Engagement Council (HPEC), a coalition of Baltimore community leaders, is excited to embark on this campaign and encourages voters to learn more about the project and what the reimagining and revitalization of Harborplace would mean for the entire City of Baltimore.
HPEC Member and Sharp-Leadenhall community advocate, Turell Brooks, said,
“I run a youth nonprofit in Sharp-Leadenhall and the kids can’t wait for a new Harborplace that is built with them and the future in mind. The MCB Team welcomes my community with open arms.”
He continued, “A ‘YES’ vote on Question F will lead to a space that will energize, excite, and embrace us.”
HPEC Member and Riverside resident, Chris Burgess, added, “As a lifelong resident of south Baltimore, I am energized and excited to see the life that a new Harborplace can breathe into our city. A ‘YES’ vote on Question F will provide the vibrancy and stability that our downtown needs to thrive as it once did. I believe it to be the next most pivotal piece in our journey of building Baltimore from a detour to a true destination."
